About Jones County

Jones County, located in eastern Iowa, is home to 20,646 residents.

Established in 1837, the county was named in honor of George Wallace Jones, a U.S. surveyor, the first delegate to Congress from the Wisconsin Territory, and a U.S. senator from Iowa.

The county encompasses the communities of Anamosa, Cascade, Martelle, Monticello, Morley, Olin, Onslow, Oxford Junction, and Wyoming.
